At Westville Senior Primary we strive to provide a holistic education. We believe that by providing opportunity for growth in academic, cultural and sporting fields, as well as developing leadership potential, tolerance, self-esteem and confidence, your child will develop into a balanced, perceptive and reasoning person who will successfully be able to cope with the expectations of high school, as well as the challenges of life. We are very proud of Kade Muller who has been selected for the u13A Sharks Primary Schools’ team to participate at the Craven week in Bloemfontein. Irma Stern is a prominent South African artist who has received national and international recognition for her exceptional creations. Our grade 5 children were inspired to imitate Irma’s style and the results are a beautiful set of portraits. Well done to our Art teachers for bringing our children’s talents to the fore! This machine is a much needed upgrade of the older version which has laboured on the WSPS fields for the past few decades. The organisers said it was a pleasure to be in a school where the children were so polite, showed impeccable manners and were genuinely enthusiastic about books and reading. The talented team of WSPS teachers made the most of the opportunity to coordinate another memorable event and the spirit of the supporting children and parents created a festive environment and inspired our swimmers to produce some excellent results. Sport has often shown itself to be a powerful tool in uniting our communities and nation and this weekend saw the highway community unite to celebrate our shared heritage. All the teams present were obviously striving to win, but it was in the camaraderie and common passion for the game that the ultimate winner was found. The rescheduling of this event was necessary following the extreme rainfall earlier in the month but despite the logistical challenges this posed, the staff and children rose to the challenge to produce an excellent display of competitive athletics. The spirit in the stands from both children and parents made for a morning filled with cheers, laughter and achievement.
